Elegant. Exceptional. Historic. Resilient.
Only 36 Spartan Executive aircraft were built between 1936 and 1940. The NC17613 was built in 1937 and was the twelfth aircraft to be produced. It has been regularly taxiing across the tarmac at Hannover Airport since 2022.
History
The Spartan Executive, produced on November 15, 1937, is a true gem. It was a flagship aircraft for the Spartan Company in 1937 and 1938, and during World War II was used to transport personnel from 1942 to 1944. Then, from 1944 to 1949, she was thoroughly overhauled, repaired and modified to meet the highest standards of the time.
On July 6, there was an accident in which the Spartan Executive was severely damaged. But she was subsequently fully restored and now shines again in all her glory. Its extraordinary history and restored perfection led to its participation as an award winner at the famous Oshkosh Air Show.
With its elegant design and amazing durability, the Sparten Executive is a real eye-catcher. It has shown both in wartime and in competitions that it is among the best in its class. Today, it is a coveted collector's item and a symbol of the quality and heritage of the aviation industry.
Data & Facts.
Spartan Executive
The Spartan Executive is a rarity.
Until the Executive was built, rather small, conventional aircraft left Spartan's workshops. With the Executive, the company ventured into the class of modern, single-engine, exclusive business jets.
All-metal construction, heavily powered, equipped with retractable landing gear and luxuriously appointed, it was intended to appeal to the businessmen of large corporations. Among the prominent owners of a Spartan 7W Executive was, for example, the American billionaire Howard Hughes.
Die Spartan ist im Art Deco Hangar am Flughafen Hannover zuhause.
